Wild West Extravaganza and World Famous Miles City Bucking Horse Sale

We are very excited to once again be hunting and cowboying in Miles City - Montana’s premiere Old West town!

This legendary cow town is rolling out the red carpet for us again and entrenching us in their ranch world. It’s a behind the scenes look at real Montana ranching, rodeo, and Foxhunting Montana-Style. Spearheaded by our good friends Terry and Janet Haughian, we have been invited by a group of local stockgrowers and long-time ranching families to bring the sport and tradition of foxhunting to the real Wild West. Not only have they welcomed us to hunt their massive ranches, but also enjoy their community and rich heritage.

When we’re not chasing coyotes, we’ll be branding and working cattle, riding the range, gathering cattle, and learning the cowboy tricks of the trade (like roping) while we hang with the real cowboys in the middle of The Big Open. Then, ride into town afterward in time for the 69th Miles City Bucking Horse Sale to parade hounds in the Main Street Parade, and where we have premiere seats for some of the best fun imaginable.

Arrive in Miles City on the 8th and depart the morning of the 18th.

Horses are available for lease. Horse boarding and our headquarters will be at the Sage Riders Riding Club, our new good friends and gracious stable hosts - across from the Fairgrounds and near the Range Riders Museum. Hay will be available for purchase. We’re staying at the Miles City Hotel and Suites across from our favorite watering hole, the Bucking Horse Saloon.

If you have not reserved your hotel room for the Bucking Horse Sale, they are scarce. Please email wes@milescityhotel.com and ask for the FOXHUNTERS block...ASAP. Unreserved rooms will be released at the end of February.

For Red Rock Hounds, click here. Each hunt day includes hunt breakfast, please reserve. Hunt attire is formal, if convenient, or Western formal is also acceptable. Colors welcome. No jumping required. Ranch day's attire is jeans and boots, Western tack encouraged. We recommend you bring Western attire (jeans and boots) and casual attire (polos) in addition to your formal attire. We may waive formal dress and coats in hot weather, and often like to ride in boots and jeans. However; we show our respect for the wonderful landowners by dressing formally and keeping our horses and tack in good clean condition. IT IS OFTEN VERY HOT AND DRY AT THIS TIME OF YEAR. But, last year we had a blizzard and pouring, freezing rain throughout the Sale. It's Montana...

The Bucking Horse Sale Parade at 9am on Saturday (parading hounds) is AS FORMAL AS POSSIBLE—SCARLET, COLORS, FORMAL APPROPRIATE. (If you have a Pinque, please wear it, regardless.)

Bucking Horse Sale tickets include the concert Thursday and BHS Friday, Saturday, Sunday. No meals. We have reserved a block of seats. Unreserved tickets in this block will be released on March 15th. If you still wish to purchase BHS tickets after 3/15, contact bucking@midrivers.com to request seats as as close to the FOXHUNTERS block as possible.

Fixtures and locations are very difficult to determine until we get the ranch schedules and see the weather, but most are located within a 60 mile radius of Miles City.
